PRIVACY NOTICE
LAST UPDATED: 09.06.2026
This notice explains what information BAD/GATEWAY* collects when you visit the site, why, and what choices you have. We keep it short because we don't collect much. You can read the site without telling us who you are, and we don't ask you to create an account or hand over your name or email to read anything.
IN SHORT
We don't run logins, and we don't ask you to register. The data that gets collected here comes from two places: basic technical information your browser sends automatically, and the advertising and analytics services we use, which set cookies. We don't sell your personal information. Below is the detail.
WHAT GETS COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY
Like almost every website, our servers and tools log basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, the type of browser and device you're using, the pages you look at, the site you arrived from, and the date and time. We use this to keep the site running, fix problems, understand which stories are read, and protect against abuse and fraud. On its own this is mostly not personally identifying, but where it is, or where it's combined with something that identifies you, we treat it as personal information.
COOKIES AND ADVERTISING
We use cookies and similar technologies, mostly through two kinds of third-party services.
Analytics tells us how the site is being used in aggregate, for example which articles are popular, so we can make the site better.
Advertising is how we fund the site. We use Google AdSense to show ads, and Google and its partners use cookies to measure ads and, in many cases, to show you ads based on your browsing. These third parties collect information through their own cookies under their own privacy policies, not this one. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and adjust your ad settings, at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and adssettings.google.com.
Our full Cookie Policy explains each type of cookie and how to control them. You can also refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do. Where the law requires it, we'll ask for your consent to non-essential cookies before they're set, through a banner when you arrive.
THE COMMENTS SECTION
Comments are anonymous and don't need an account, so we don't collect a name or email to let you post. Comments are public, which means anything you write, including anything personal you choose to put in it, can be seen by anyone. Please don't post personal information about yourself or others. We may keep technical information such as IP address associated with a comment to deal with spam and abuse.
IF YOU DO CONTACT US
If you email us, send a tip, or report a comment, we receive whatever you put in that message, including your email address, and we use it only to respond and follow up. If you send a tip and you're worried about being identified, see the precautions on our tips page.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
We don't sell your personal information. We don't build advertising profiles ourselves, beyond what the ad and analytics services described above do through their cookies. We don't ask for sensitive information, and we'd rather you didn't send it.
WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH
We share information with the service providers that help us run the site, such as our hosting, analytics, and advertising partners, and only so they can provide those services. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect the site and its users from fraud, abuse, or harm. If the business is ever sold or merges, information may be transferred as part of that.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
We keep technical and log information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then delete or anonymise it. Our analytics and advertising partners keep data according to their own policies.
your choices and rights Under Canadian privacy law you have rights over the personal information we hold about you, including the right to ask what we have, to ask us to correct it, and to ask us to delete it, subject to some legal exceptions. Because we don't run accounts, we often won't be holding information that identifies you, but if you want to make a request, email contact@0x502.com and we'll respond as the law requires. You can also control cookies through your browser and through the ad-settings links above.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
This is a general-audience news site and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
OTHER WEBSITES
We link to other websites and embed content served by third parties. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their privacy practices, so check their policies when you follow a link or interact with embedded content.
CHANGES
We may update this notice from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, flag it on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated notice.
